My name is Erik Welander, and I'm a 34-year-old software engineer with nearly 10 years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex systems across both frontend and backend, as well as working with Linux/Unix systems and infrastructure.

My preferred programming languages are Java, Kotlin, TypeScript, and JavaScript, with a healthy dose of Bash scripting for automation.

On the backend, I primarily work with Java 25 and Spring Boot 4.
For frontend development, I tend to favor server-side rendered React applications using Next.js, although I'm equally comfortable working with Angular or plain JavaScript when it's a better fit for the project.

Beyond software development, I have a strong interest in Linux, system administration, and computer networking, particularly IPv4 and IPv6.

One example is my personal Kira Router project, where I experiment with and deepen my understanding of technologies such as nftables, Unbound, and Linux networking and routing using 'iproute2'.

I enjoy working across the entire development lifecycle, from initial design and implementation to deployment, maintenance, and long-term improvement.

Besides technology, other things I love spending time on are:

• Anime, usually with a focus on the super-natural mixed with romance
• Story driven games mixed with horror-element like Life is Strange, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, Detroit: Become Human,
  Mass Effect, Beyond two souls, To the moon, Dead Space, SOMA etc
• Digital art, mostly in the 3D space
• Mechs (MechWarrior, Battletech, does this involve a human-machine interface?)
• Animals, dogs ♥ very much in particular
• Long walks with casual conversation
