Hi!

I am a full-stack software engineer with extensive experience developing internal and customer-facing platforms and business-critical tools.

After nearly five years at Volvo Cars, my current position will conclude at the end of February as the company is closing its Stockholm office. I am therefore looking for new challenges where I can take long-term ownership of complex product areas and contribute throughout the development process.

At Volvo Cars, I have helped develop platforms supporting fleet and leasing operations, including Fleet Cars and the Care by Volvo program. My responsibilities have included system design and integrations with internal services, the Swedish Transport Agency, and equivalent authorities in other markets. I have also worked on Apollo, an internal sales-forecasting platform used to forecast production requirements and evaluate sales performance using data such as retail orders, wholesales, and deliveries.

Earlier in my career, I spent four years developing Insight Asset Management for Jira at Riada, Mindville, and later Atlassian. Insight allows companies to model assets, dependencies, processes, automation, and organizational relationships. I joined while the company was still small and remained through rapid growth, major architectural changes, and its eventual acquisition by Atlassian. During that journey, I worked with everything from a large Java monolith and legacy frontend technologies to cloud-based microservices and modern web applications.

I am comfortable collaborating closely with stakeholders and often take features through the entire development journey, from understanding the underlying need and contributing to UX design to implementing the frontend and backend. I enjoy making technical decisions and finding solutions that balance immediate business requirements with maintainability and long-term development.

While I am confident working independently, I believe the best solutions are created together. A strong team spirit is important to me, as is an environment where people feel comfortable sharing knowledge, asking for help, and discussing different perspectives. This helps everyone grow while also improving the product and the decisions we make as a team.

I also value having the freedom to experiment with and evaluate new ways of solving problems. Purposeful experimentation gives the team opportunities to learn, challenge existing assumptions, and continuously improve both the product and our ways of working.

Kind regards, Erik Welander
